Great food to enjoy at home with your Beer Tube

Enjoying a tasty Beer Tube can quench your thirst for your favorite beverage, but we haven’t developed a way for it to satisfy your hunger (yet). Luckily mankind has developed a palatable and manly meal for the carnivorous beer consumer. This feast is known as the “beer can chicken.” Our friends at About.com have provided a great step by step process for preparing and cooking this beer lovers meal. This feast can also be made with other beverages, including wine, coke, or even chicken broth. These step by step instructions provided by about.com are simple enough for any home griller. This recipe is one of the  greatest tailgate party ideas we have come across!

For the recipe, you will need:

• One whole 5-6 pound chicken
• One can of your favorite beer
• One cup of spice rub
• One wedge of onion

Make sure your beer fits inside the chicken prior to cooking and check to make sure your chicken will fit inside your grill.

1. Cut the top off of your beer can using a can opener or knife (use with caution).
2. Empty out (or drink) half of the beer. Then mix 1/2 cup of seasoning into the beer.
3. Rub the rest of your spice rub all over the chicken, inside and out.
4. Place the beer can on your grill in-between two flames. Do not place the beer can over direct heat/flame.
5. Gently slide your chicken onto the beer can. Insert your onion wedge into the neck of the chicken to prevent moisture from escaping the chicken. Close the lid on your grill.
6. Try to maintain a grill temperature of 300-325 degrees Fahrenheit. Cook the bird until it reaches an internal temperature of 175 degrees F in its thickest area. A 5-6 pound chicken will generally take about 2-3 hours.
7. Let the chicken rest for 10 minutes before serving.
8. Enjoy!
