Bar Promotions that Work: Dare to Be Different!

Before we start talking about how to sell more draft beer in your bar/restaurant, we want to begin this post with one of our favorite sports stories that illustrates the importance of differentiating yourself from the competition. The story is about Harry Chiti–the first major league baseball player to be traded for himself.

Harry Chiti

According to Wikipedia, "On April 25, 1962—before he even played a game for the Indians—Chiti was acquired by the expansion New York Mets for a player to be named later. However, he was sent back to the Indians on June 15, 1962 after 15 games and a .195 batting average.[1] Since Chiti was the "player to be named later," he thus became the first player ever traded for himself." Nothing against Harry Chiti, but in terms of a major league baseball player he was just average. Just average enough to get traded for himself.

Our point about Chiti is that if you don't do anything to distinguish yourself from your competition, well... you'll go on being just average. And while "just average" may not always be a bad thing, most of us have room for improvement. Especially in the bar/restaurant business. A well-run business knows how to adapt to changing market conditions and, when needed, introduce new ideas and concepts.

When considering bar promotion ideas, it's important to consider concepts that bring the "wow factor" to the table–which is what a Beer Tube is all about. A previous blog post highlights the effective use of table-top beer dispensers. Basically, if you use this product correctly, you will see multiple benefits. First and foremost, increased draft beer sales. Additionally, you will enhance the customer experience and provide a unique point of differentiation that sets you apart from the competition. All while utilizing a fully functional (and marketable!) serving vessel.

So if you're looking for bar promotions that work, don't be afraid to try something new and different. Because in today's highly competitive bar/restaurant industry products that enhance the customer experience and provide a "wow factor" will help you rise above average and distinguish yourself as an all-star.

Cheers!
